| Level 9000! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Hmmm the game was good but I don't think it was great. Still has flaws, and things that I disliked about it. Example, it was extremely linear. No free roaming whatsoever except for Gran Pulse. Graphics were top-notch, battle system I liked. I am more of a fan of the random enemy encounters other than the walking into the enemies. It wouldn't be such an issue with me if the enemies didn't always spawn in the exact same place every time. Storyline was good, characters weren't so deep though. It did have a good ending I'll give it that, however the final bosses disappointed me.. They were all really easy I think. Hmmm, Replay value I'm not so sure about because I haven't replayed it yet due to no new game + feature. The way you level reminded me a lot of FFX's sphere grid. I like it, but I'd rather be leveling up. Overall I'd say it's a 8.5, possibly 9 out of 10. I really didn't like how linear it was, that's my only real complaint.

| Ill add my review if I may. What I loved about the game other than the impecable graphics was the gameplay, i liked the way the enemies are on the world, it makes it look alot more realistic, and also you have the option of running away, always annoying in random encounters when your back in a low level area and get 20 battles for something thats easy to kill. The battle system in my opinion was the best battle system so far from a final fantasy. The Leveling system I liked, i like a leveling system thats different than bog standard leveling, I have 2 gripes about it though, I prefered how the sphere grid looked, this crystalium grid was too fancy, it was much harder to read where you are going, and the second point was the huge jumps in CP you need to get between different items, from like 200 at the beggining of the game for a stat to 600000 for a stat. Although one thing that is great about it is that all of your characters get exp, so you can switch out characters you dont normally use, which is a usual gripe of mine you cant normally do. Onto the story, It was a nice story, and for me linear gameplay generally means a good story, look at FFX which is perfect story for me. But the story was only good, I didnt feel quite as attached to the characters as I think i should have, because you got full character developement of every single character it was difficult to feel connected to the "main" character portrayed as lightning, however it seems that she wasnt really a main character, it seemed as if there was none. In an RPG i want to feel like I am one of the characters, Zidane, Squall, Tidus, Yuna, Cloud. The story could have been alot more in depth even though there was alot of great cutscenes, the game would need to be alot longer to fully develop everything i think it should have been. Bosses I actually found pretty good although I call haxor on some of them like being able to cast death and stuff which is just instant game over since when the character your controlling dies its game over. However on the subject of game over what I loved was the retry button if you died you didnt go back 40 minutes to your last save point even though there was abundances of save points, the retry was just a god send, especially if you want to try your hand at something a bit tricky. Lastly the music is incredible, even though i debate the English version of My Hands being the main theme it is played once at the end of the game and not even the full song, seems a bit like it was a gimick to make it more with the times to say it was the main theme. Overall Id rate it about 8.5/10 Brilliant Game play/Music and Graphics however for me the most important part the story wasnt perfect, very good but not great, still very worth the money paid for it |

| Well, Graphics put Aside wich are Truly Beautiful. I love this games Story Line, havnt seen any as good since FF VII. Battle System is good, its a bit FFXII and FFX. but i agree id rather have the random battle encounters, cause its unexpected what u will run into. Thus the more exciting it becomes. |

| My opinion of Final Fantasy XIII is that it still has flaws in the game. The leveling system of the game resembles that of Final Fantasy X, which doesn't seem as a good system to depend on. I still prefer the old "FF/Pokemon" level up & gain stats system, making leveling up a 6/10. The graphics, however, are another thing. Honestly, it's almost as if the characters were actually alive. Graphics: 10/10! The battle system is great, as well. The active time battling is something I have missed, reminding me of Final Fantasy X-2 and the legendary Final Fantasy VII, despite the fact that accidentally leaving the controller and forgetting it will end up in a game over, making Battle a 9/10. The storyline is average, considering the fact that there are holes in the plot where the game transitions to another character. Storyline: 7/10 Overall, this is still a very good game and I also recommend buying it. |

| I think it's the worst entry in the series. Yes, worse than X-2. Linear, easy, automatized, horrible story, lack of interactivity, hardly a FF. I have said before that I defeated a boss while cooking and I'm not kidding when I say that; that, to me? is just plain bad. I endured all the way into chapter 11 and I quit and I feel no remorse for quitting.

| Haha, well, chalk it up to utter disappointment. Other than the pristine graphics, I just can't say anything good about the game.

| Totally agree with you on your review of the game. I put a little over 40 hours into it and gave up and sold it on ebay before the value dropped to nothing. And I have never done that, I even beat FF X-2 before I sold it, but this game was garbage. Graphically it was amazing and the actual story behind it wasn't horrible, it wasn't fantastic by any means but it wasn't so bad that I didn't not care if that makes sense. But the lack of gill from beating enemies, the lack of towns, and the lack of anything to distract you from the actual main story line and don't give me that BS about well when you get to gran pulse it opens up.... no it doesn't the game just gives you a bigger area to fight a lot more enemies but there is no real reason to do any of that. There is also the fact that you can only use one summon during a battle because you can only control the main character which was one of my biggest gripes at least in XII when your main character died they gave you control of the next character, no oh well you died try again. That pissed me off more then I care to think about. I guess maybe the series is moving past me because I just want a game that has the same similar elements of the old Final Fantasy games from FF I - IX and even parts of X and XII. They really started to change the series in X and while I really liked X I didn't like that the world map wasn't really an open map. I miss the days when you get to a point in the game and they give you a canoe, then later a ship, and then later an airship. I miss having that free ability and I can only hope that Square-enix will one day release a Final fantasy for the old crowd. But as for FF XIII the worst Final Fantasy game ever made in my opinion. Out of 10 I would give it a 2.5 and all for the graphics as that was the only thing that was amazing about this game. |
