| As the title implies, this is a topic to discuss Lighnting's, the main character from Final Fantasy XIII, feminine qualities. To further explain what I mean I shall make a sight of refrence. Considering Square Enix's past female heroines in games such as Terra/Tina from Final Fantasy VI or Yuna from Final Fantasy X/X-2, I believe Lightning is a rather unique character in this regard. Where Terra/Tina and Yuna could be considered rather feminine in nature, clearly as they were females, Lightning does not poses such traits. She acts, moves and behaves in a manner more accustom to male characters in past Square Enix games. Therefore, we reach the crux and point of discussion this topic is meant to invoke. What feminine qualities does Lightning, the main character from Final Fantasy XIII, poses? I personally believe she poses few, apart from actually being female. Do not mis-understand, I am not complaining or anything of the sort, simply making an observation. I also believe I know why this is the case. After the proverbial train wreck that was Final Fantasy X-2 and its over the top 'girl power' esque behavior that only seems to appeal to adolescent young girls, and not even all was then, Square Enix decided to make the female character the 'Auron' type character of the game. This, of course, meant she would show little, if any, female characteristic traits they have so often used in the past. I for one applaud this. I have all was thought they presented female characters as more of a supporting role and a love interest position as opposed to actually characters of interest. Celes, also from Fianl Fantasy VI, is the only other character I can think of that fits a similar standard to that of Lightning in Final Fantasy XIII. Now, if I have not lost you already, I once again present the question of this topic and all that can be considered 'connected' to it. What feminine qualities does Lightning, the main character from Final Fantasy XIII, poses? |

| well its kinda the oposite of what they usually do and have femanine male characters. They tend to like, and not only SE but JRPG's in general, to do characters which have characteristics of the oposing character. I believe alot of the time its because they like to make the oposing gender of the heroine still connect with them |

| I most hardily agree, Braskasdaughter. Lightning is easily the most likable and my favorite character in Final Fantasy XIII. While that alone is not actually saying much, considering, I do believe her personality is interesting enough to actually allow her to hold her own against other characters outside of XIII like Cloud, Squall, Auron, Vincent and Tifa, to name a few.
