Job Summary

Square Enix is seeking a game programmer with significant C and C++ experience. Applicant would be joining a small initial team to build a studio from the ground up and should feel comfortable taking on a wide range of tasks. The ideal candidate will implement a major chunk of the engine, gameplay or both. Be a game creator, not just a programmer who writes to spec!

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Mastery of C and C++ programming
  • 2+ years of programming experience on commercial projects
  • Solid 3D math skills
  • Ability to work independently and under a deadline
  • Willingness to try new things
  • Ability to learn quickly

Desired:

  • Experience with multiplatform development
  • Experience with shaders and/or GPU programming

Yea I would love to do this job too. What drives me nuts is C# is going to eventually replace C, C+ and C++ yet S-E is still using them.

ya well i have more c# experiance as well, however going from c# to c++ is much easier than the other way round, since c# is a copy of java, and java is the new version of c++

yea. I'm still torn as to how I'm gonna go. I know C# is the wave of the future but a lot of people are still using C+ and C++

c# is the future so it just depends on how long its gonna take you to enter the business, obviously there is no point in learning c++ if they are gonna switch to c# by the time you start your career
