Is the Zodiac Spear worth at all?

Well, yes. By the time you are able to get it the first time, it's very, very useful. It's not the best weapon of the game though, at least in my opinion. Well, weapons work differently, so some weapons are more useful than others in different situations. Although some weapons might seem inferior to others by just looking the stats.

I assume you are trying to get it at Necrohol of Nabudis (by avoiding certain chests)? If you are trying to get it in Henne Mines it's not worth it. Only 1/1000 change to get it in there. If you're trying to get all of the weapons and you missed the first one, that's the only way to get it at that point.

Ask more if you like, I have completed the game fully and acquired every item/weapon :D

I consider it very worth it, to the point I restarted a file just to get it. I got the game day of release and only realized much much later the untold requirements. On the basis of attack speed vs (consistent) power, it's absolutely unmatched. You'll do max damage at levels far far lower than any other weapon. Yeah yeah I realize this thread is old, but it has to be said..who knows, some people might still be doing playthroughs.
