Final Fantasy XII FF12 broke the tradition of Battle Screens and was also the sixth game ever to receive a perfect 40/40 score from Famitsu.

Default FFXII a letdown?

Did anyone else think so? I thought that it kinda paled in comparison to the other FF games. Thoughts? Ideas? Opinions?

I really enjoyed it, it wasn't as good as the others but it was still a fun game, and its scenery was breathtaking

I thought it was one of the weakest in the series for many reasons including the gambit system and licence grinds.

I have played all Final Fantasies for all platforms they were released (including re-makes such as the FFI and II for PSP and so on) except for FFXI, and still my favorite game from the series is Final Fantasy XII.

I thought the Gambit System and the Licence Grids were great, although I like the FFXII - Zodiac Job system better so I can stick to a class.

Seriously, I can't see why people complain that much. The story might not be as great because the one that was creating the story left. It was going to be a lot more political like Final Fantasy Tactics - my second-favorite - and they decided to take the easy way. Vaan and Penelo were actually going to do something!

But still, it's a great story. The characters are close to awesome - you can understand them and their past, it's unfair to call them bland.

The battle system is one of the greatest innovations! For those who still prefer that old, turn-based style it's still there for you, but for me the Gambit System allowed me to get a lot more of the game and not to make me as tired.
C'mon, do you really love those random battles that pop out of nowhere ALL the time? They are traditional and fun, but I think this new MMORPG feel is a lot better.

The voices are also excellent. A lot better than the X and X-2 dubbing and all that Americanization and emotiolessness.

To sum it all up, even though I think that FFXII is the awesomenest FF game - and that it's the last rather-old-schooled FF game, can you imagine FFXIII being more like old-school games? Things are changing, people - even though the great majority of people disagree.

Well, my least favorite games are FFX and X-2, I think the story is awesome but all characters are annoying and a pain in the ass. Except maybe for Rikku, Lulu and Auron. I was really relieved when I finally finished it, but I still gladly replay XII.

you have the oposite opinion to me about the games, when i play an RPG i want to get into the story i want to feel like one of the characters, why its called role play, with 12 i couldnt do it, as i said i liked the battle system it was good, although i do think there was too many gambits you could actually win without doing anything just let the gambits do the work
