Beating Ruby and Emerald

Now it's been a long long time since I've played VII but for me the best part of the game was the optional bosses ruby and emerald weapon. I remember traing up my materia and everything, even getting the golden chocobo for knights of the round so I could beat them. And no I didn't use the lucky 7777 trick to beat emerald, I always beat them fair and square.

So share your experience with the weapons, did you nearly kill them before being completely destroyed? Did you forget to unequip the materia when facing emerald? What completely unfair thing did the weapons do to you in your no doubt countless attempts to beat them? And how great did it feel when you finally did!

Ruby weapon is a tough one..its really annoying when it started to use sandstorm(was it?) and make one of your party member dissapears! i remember starting the battle with only one character alive just to avoid that attack..then when ruby starts to shoot out its tentacle i use phoenix down,regen,curaga n attack like crazy!! its been a very long time so i didn't really remember how i won..

As for emerald,he's very tricky.i only equip important materias like HP plus,MP plus,Curaga,Full-Life,Phoenix,Knight of the Round,Regen,Ultima,4-Slash,Bahamut i think..to avoid his Aire Tam attack.
and of course the Underwater materia.
And the battle took very long time...

And how happy i was when i won n i kept bragging it at my cousin coz he still haven't beat them!MUAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

if i rememvber underwater materia was to be free from the 20 minutes count down when facing esmerald weapon and i tried to kill it without the underwater materia and sucessed but it took me some hours. Against Ruby weapon equiped every slot in weapons and armor and then i trowed everythink that i could against it and TAH DAH !!! I DID IT !!! :D
i think i tried to use KOR and mime to do as much damage that i could and in the final of each battle i was only with 1 char alive. Against Esmerald Weapon Cloud was the survivor and against Ruby Weapon Vincent was the survivor, the other party member was tifa

i beat one of them but now i have to beat the other one but i am haveing no luck at all and i cheated by buying lots of HP+10% things in a shop to get most of my guys to the 8000's but i still cant kill him but with lots of luck and hope i will beat him one day like i beat Resadent eval 3.

Probably the two toughest bosses in video game history. Ruby, you really do have to kill off two of your characters before you go in to survive the battle. I usually went to cautar island to do that. Emerald is just straight up do as much damage as you can, protect yourself from his huge laser attack as much as possible and pray that he doesn't use it a lot. Although it is possible to beat him without the underwater materia, it's very difficult. However, the things you get from beating both of them are well worth the effort.
