Talking Final Fantasy VI Cheats

I don't know if I would qualify this as a cheat but it sure as hell helps.

I haven't tried this on a computer version of it but it works on the PS version. I believe it also requires a controler that has a turbo option but I could be wrong on that one. It may just work faster with a turbo controler. After visiting The Returners hideout, Bannon becomes a part of your party. When you're riding on the raft, as you may or may not know, there is a path on the raft that doesn't go any where. I think it's just after the first save point. It just goes around in a circle. I believe it's a path that goes up and around to the right.

Here's how this "cheat" works...

Get to the circle on the raft portion. Make sure your cursor settings are put on memory so that the cursor goes to the last thing that was selected. Now set up Bannon to use his Heal ability every time by having him use his heal ability during the last battle before you go to bed and make sure you set up everyone else to attack with normal weapons. If you have some good tools for edgar having his set on that helps too.

You're at circle path on the raft now right?
You've got everyone set up now right?

Tape down the "X" button and the "Up" on the direction pad on your controler and let it sit and go to bed.

In the morning you should have more than a few levels and everyone should still be alive and kicking. It's cheap...but hey...who says the game can't play itself while you get some sleep?

I laugh at people who do this, especially when they realised how they missed out on all the nice esper stat boosts.

Same. Having the espers is not the issue, the issue is the leveling. Espers will give you a certain boost to stats on your level up if they are equipped. But, if you cheat level to 99 that early, you miss out on really building your characters stats because you have no more levels to reach and get a bonus from once you do get the espers. That's why it fails and that's why I applaud Square (yes I know, Square Enix now but Enix had no part in this game at all so they get no credit) for kicking lazy players in the ass with this one. Right on.

lol I noticed the circular path but for some reason never thought to try "auto-leveling" with a turbo controller... but I don't really want to, not only does it erase ALL challenge from that point on from overleveling (not that the game is very challenging anywho), but like Carl said, you miss Esper stat boost.
