Final Fantasy VI - The Best Looking FF - Page 2

I have to admit VI was #1 for me & the original FF-1 was second untill FF-IX, 9 is #1, 6 is #2 & FF-1 is #3, FF-Tactics for PS-One is #4, FF-IV for the SNES/GBA is #5(the DS ver. is like # 5.5) Chocobo's Dungeon for PS-One is #6

From the first time I played the game...when I ran into Mog, I was like, "Oh hell, they made 'W.C. Fields' into a FF char. persona and face, it was right on LOL

Haha. I certainly think Final Fantasy VI was the most innovative of all of the Final Fantasies in terms of artistic direction. It was the first in the series to veer away from the "King and Castle" style that was all-too-common in those days as far as RPGs go. It yoinked fans of the series at that time out of the comfort zone they were used to and threw them in a MUCH darker, steampunk environment. I have to say, I think 6 is the most origional of the series and DEFFINATLY the darkest of the lot. It's imagery and design was all very twisted, with the antagonist taking the form of a psychotic clown and envoking much darker scenarios such as with the play.

However, the best looking Final Fantasy in my eyes, personally, is Final Fantasy IX (And I'm not just saying that because it's my favourite). The backdrops and scenery look practicly painted, giving the whole thing that very strong 'fantasy' edge.
